  Before buying a DIGIZON
  Q: Do I have to pay any extra monthly fees after install my DIGIZON at home?
  A: If you already have TV and broadband connection at home, you don't need to pay any monthly fees additionally.
  Q: Where is the good place to install the DIGIZON so that I can see my favorite TV shows?
  A: DIGIZON can be installed where the TV programs come from. If you live in the US but you want to watch the TV program from Italy , the DIGIZON should be installed in Italy with Internet connection. You can install DIGIZON PC player software on your pc to connect the DIGIZON in Italy, then you can watch the TV program of Italy. DIGIZON PC player can be downloaded at KCS download link.
  Q: How to install DIGIZON quickly and easily?
  A: It is easy to install DIGIZON in most cases. You don't even worry about the IP configuration. First, you can follow the Hardware Installation. Secondly, if you have an UPnP router or wireless access point you will find it simple and easy to complete the installation. All you have to do is to follow the Network Setup steps and install DIGIZON player on your PC. You can enjoy watching your favorite TV shows through network.

  Q: What do I need to do before the installation?
 

•  Get TV (antenna or cable) ready and find the source (usually from an outlet on the wall)
•  Check your xDSL or Cable modem broadband connection with minimum uplink 256 kbps
•  A broadband router or a wireless access point (with UPnP function highly recommended)
•  A laptop or desktop PC for installation of DIGIZON PC player (DIGIZON Mobile player for PDA phone must be installed from your computer.)

  Q: Do I need to have a static IP address for DIGIZON?
  DIGIZON can be used in either static IP or dynamic IP environment. It is very easy to set up by using it regardless static or dynamic IP. Just follow our Installation guide to complete the installation.
  Q: What is the minimum bandwidth required?
 

A: An ADSL or Cable modem with bandwidth 256 kbps (uplink). Note, the more bandwidth produces better video quality.
  Q: How do I configure my DIGIZON if I only want to to watch TV on my PDA mobile phone?
  A: First, you will have to install DIGIZON PC player on your computer to configure DIGIZON properly. Second, install DIGIZON Mobile player on your PDA phone. Then you will be able to use your PDA mobile phone to watch TV.
  Q: My broadband modem and router are far from my TV source. And I don't want to connect a long cable line across the room. What can I do?
  A: DIGIZON pro suits your need in this case. Configure your DIGIZON pro through wired LAN for your wireless access point first, then move it to your TV source. You can access DIGIZON pro through your Wi-Fi network.
 
  FAQ - Watching TV
  Q: Can I use DIGIZON through network when someone else watches TV at home?
  A: There is no conflict between your TV and DIGIZON. Viewers can watch TV shows at home without feeling any interference from DIGIZON users.
  Q: Do I need to leave my TV, set-top box, DVR or other devices on in order to use DIGZON through network?
  A: No need. You can leave your TV, set-top box and DVR in standby mode (with power on) and you can turn them on with DIGIZON player through network.
  Q: How can I use DIGIZON with a high definition device?
  A: As bandwidth is limited, you are not suggested to transmit high definition video contents over Internet. DIGIZON accepts video through Composite and S-Video inputs and streams video over network. You dont have to buy extra accessories.
  Q: Can I use Apple iPod to play video recorded by DIGIZON (pvr/pro)?
  A: Yes, Apple iPod supports H.264 format. You can upload your favorite TV shows recorded by DIGIZON into Apple iPod to carry them and show them to your friends. It is not required file transcodingat all.
 
  Hardware Installation
  Q: What do I do if DIGIZON doesn't appear in the connection list?
 

1. Verify your Internet setting first. If you are using PPPoE (dialup service), please enter UUID and press OK.
2. It is possible that the current IP of DIGIZON can't be displayed in the connection list. Please reboot DIGIZON by pressing the yellow button twice on the back of DIGIZON. It takes about 45 seconds to reboot DIGIZON. Please wait till DIGIZON appears in the connection list.
3. It may be because the change of the factory default IP address. You need to reset the DIGIZON in this case.
Reset DIGIZON ︰ Insert the pin hole on the back of DIGIZON with a needle or similar object and hold it for 15 seconds until the Network LED turned off and on again. Wait for another 45 seconds to restart the DIGIZON. When the reset is completed, the IP will appear in the connection list.
3. It is possible that DIGIZON's packets were blocked by your PC's Firewall or Antivirus software. Please disable your Antivirus software temporarily.

  Q: What should I do when DIGIZON's IP doesn't appear in the connection list? (Because it is blocked by the Firewall or Antivirus software)
  A: Please add this: C:\Program Files\DIGIZON\DIGIZON.exe into the additional list. Turn on TCP port: 40001, 41000, 41002
  Setup Your Network
  Q: How do I tell whether the Router supports UPnP or not? (Advance)
 

1. Please ensure that 3 ports ( Communication Port :40001, Image Port :41000 and Audio Port :41002) are turned ON correctly from the path indicated here: ADVANCE—Network Setting—UPnP—Enable—Advanced Management.
2.After choosing “Yes”, you will see the screen shows “UPnP setup is in process, please wait.”
3.If you see below messages on screen to indicate UPnP cannot be turned on correctly, here are the guidelines for you:
a. If you see message says it doesnt find any router to activate UPnP, please check the UPnP function of your router for verfication.
b The previous setting of Communication Port is not successful. Please check whether the router supports UPnP or not.
c. PnP parameter setting is failed.
d. The Communication Port which you intend to setup, it is occupied by other programs.
4. When you see the message: “Last communication port setting is in process”, it means DIGIZON has completed he setup. Please wait for 10 seconds.
5.When UPnP setting is completed, you may proceed with UUID testing. If the reply message indicates “Setting is successful” after finish UUID testing, your DIGIZON can be connected and registered to UUID remotely.
*It will take about 10 minutes to register iDNS by UUI. You are suggested to proceed with Channel Scanning now.

  Q: What should I do the setup if the router does not support UPnP? (Advance)
  1. You are suggested to turn OFF UPnP
2. Please use DMZ or Virtual Server to start the setup.
 
  Q: Why do I need to use DMZ? (Advance)
 

1. You are suggested to use DMZ for setup because some older models of routers for Virtual Servers only support ports between 1024~35535.
2. You are suggested to use DMZ for setup also because some routers often have more secured Firewall settings or built-in Antivirus software which may cause more problems.
3. Some DMZ type of Routers named as Virtual DMZ, Non-Military Zone, No War Zone or Default server.
4. In the categories of routers, DMZ is often located at NAT or in Firewall menu options.

  Q: Why do I use Virtual Server to set up DIGIZON? (Advance)
 

1. When DMZ was taken by other users, you are suggested to use Virtual Server to setup alternatively.
2. When the user intends to install more than one DIGIZON under a router.

  Q: How do I install more than one DIGIZON under the samerouter? (Advance)
 

1. The Router must support UPnP
2. Turn on the power of the first DIGIZON
3. When it gets connected, enter the setting from: ADVANCE—Network setup—UPnP-- Advance Setting
4. Now, add 100 to the previous port settings (so they should become 40101/41100/41102), wait for 1 minute for the parameter activates.
5. Turn on the power of the second DIGIZON
6. Whenir fwra connected, enter the setting from: ADVANCE—Network setup—UPnP--Advanced Setting
7. Now, add 100 to the previous port settings (so they should become 40201/41200/41202), wait for 1 minute for the parameter activates.
8. If you have more than two units of DIGOZON to setup, please repeat the above steps from Step 5 to Step 7.
9. Important Note: when using the same router, please avoid then installation of more than three DIGIZONs.

 
  Q: How do I setup when the Network setting utilizes the multi-layer submask DHCP Route ? (Advance)
  1. Please click on the DMZ IP of the first-layer router to the second-layer router, and point the DMZ IP of the second-layer router to DIGIZON.
  Q: How do I install DIGIZON behind the enterprise grade Firewall?
  1. Please submit your request to the IT department for opening up TCP/IP port 40001/ 41000/ 41002 for outer usage.
2. If there is any Proxy Server installed in the company, DIGIZON may not be installed. 3. If there is any Network Load Balancer installed in the company, DIGIZON may not be installed due to the lack of fixed IP.
  Q: Why do I have to setup DIGIZON with a fixed IP when installing behind DHCP Router? (Advance)
 

1. Because some routers limit the time for each DIGIZON to acquire IP when it executes the DHCP IP allocation, when the limited time is up, the router will assign DIGIZON to other IP.
2. If the user did not notice that the router assigns a new IP immediately, DMZ and Virtual Server are not able to locate the newly assigned IP address.

  Q: Why do I need to manage DNS settings manually after giving a fixed IP? (Advance)
 

•  Once DIGIZON is to be setup to manually acquire IP, it cannot acquire DNS from router.

Here are several examples of DNS from major ISPs:
Hinet DNS

  • Main DNS ： 168.95.1.1
  • Second DNS ： 168.95.92.1

So-net DNS

  • Main DNS ： 61.64.127.1
  • Second DNS ： 61.64.127.2

 

Seednet DNS

  • Main DNS ： 139.175.55.244
  • Second DNS ： 139.175.252.16

GIGA-Net DNS

  • Main DNS ： 203.133.1.6
  • Second DNS ： 203.187.0.6
   
 

Q:Why DIGIZON cannot be shown on the IP menu list after setting with a fixed IP?

 
         

1. Some models of routers may block the packets broadcasting to internal netoworkif the system was not assigned by DHCP.
2. In the Router Setup page, you may see it in the DHCP list which shows the IP has been “Fixed” or “Reserved” for DIGIZON.
3. You may also change the setting to “Auto” acquiring IP address for DIGIZON.

 
             
          Q: Why the data rate shows “0 kbps” while player says “Login successful” and the network connection seems normal?  
             
         

1. If DIGIZON is behind the router, please disable UPnP when DIGIZON IP is set as DMZ.
2. Please disable UPnP too when using Virtual Server.
3. Please make sure that you have chosen only one setup rather than two or three at the same time (either UPnP, DMZ, or Virtual Server).

 
   
Q: Why it cannot get on line when using UUID?    
  1. Please check your DIGIZON's DNS setting.    
       
  When Using DIGIZON    
  a. Channel scanning    
  Q: What should I do if I cannot find my local TV channels in the Channel scanning list?    
 

Installation

•  The setup of DIGIZON pro is the same as standard and pvr. Please refer to the Network Installation.
•  Note that you cannot use PPPoE dialup service when using wireless connection to the access point.

DIGIZON supports WEP 64 & 128bit, ASCII & HEX certification, but it supports Key index =1 only.		    
 

1. Please contact your local TV Station or cable TV companies to find out what is the correct video standard (NTSC or PAL) in your country.
2. Select “Scan All Channels” to start scanning.

   
       
  Q: If I have antenna for free TV channels only, what should I choose to scan?    
 

Select the same “Taiwan Cable TV” to scan.

   
       
  Q: Can I edit the channel list manually after Channel Scanning is completed?    
  You can enable and disable the channels and edit their names by entering ”CHANNEL SETTING”.

  Q: How do I start getting wireless after Setting up Wireless Network?    
       
 

Please unplug the network cable from DIGIZON and restart it. After reboot completed DIGIZON is on Wi-Fi.
Note! When DIGIZON is both connected to LAN and Wi-Fi at the same time, wired LAN has priority over Wi-Fi.

   
       
  Q: Why DIGIZON doesn't appear in the connection list after Wi-Fi is enabled?    
       
 

1. Please check whether the Mac Filter of router is enabled. If yes, please include the Mac Address of the DIGIZON into the Filter list.

2. The wireless router is not using WEP for certification. Please change to WEP and set the KEY as 1. 		   
       
  c. USB storage device (for pvr and pro only)    
 

Installation
1. When external hard drive has partitioned into multi logical drives, DIGIZON follows the rules to set folder for recording:

a) Search all FAT format drives for an existing folder HMC/recorder and set it as path for recording.

b) If HMC/recorder are found in several drives, the first one will be defined as path for recording.
c) If none of above were found, DIGIZON will create a new folder in the name of HMC/recorder in the drive has the largest free space. 		   
       
 

Note: DIGIZON only supports USB 2.0 high speed storage devices.  

What should I do when the recording disk is full?

•  If you want to keep the recorded video, please create a new folder /HMC/recorder in the disk where you intend to do the recording.
•  Rename the previous recording folder.

Reboot DIGIZON to enable the new setting. 		   
       
  Q: How to use the external hard drive which is larger than 32GB?    
       
  Please use disk tool such as Fdisk or Windows disk management tool to make partitions. Make sure each partition is less than 32GB in FAT format.    
       
  Q: Why sometimes the video file can't be deleted?    
  1. The video file may be corrupted due to abnormal interruption during recording.
2. Please remove the USB storage device and connect it again. The file system maybe restored after the storage device was detected. 		   
  Q: How can I play the recorded films?    
       
  1. Install Windows Media Player 10 with H.264 plug-in.
2. Install Quick time 7.0 or the above
3. Install VLC player 		   
       
  Q: How do I know the size of the recorded film and estimate the free disk space?    
 

 

    
 

A reference of resolution, data rate, time and file size:
D1, 2048 kbps, 1 hour – about 99MB (default)
D1, 1024 kbps, 1 hour - about 495MB

CIF, 768 kbps, 1 hour – about 371MB (default)
QCIF, 384 kbps, 1 hour - about 185MB (default)
Users may define recording quality accordingly. 		   
       
  Q: Can I use card reader and memory cards as the storage device for recording?    
  We don't recommend you to do so as the reading and writing speeds of memory card vary a lot. The recording quality can't be assured.    
       
  Q: What is the maximum number of hard drive that DIGIZON supports?    
 

1. DIGIZON supports up to three physical drives.
2. Max. 8 hard drives (physical & logical) can be seen in the file management system.

   
       
  IR Learning    
  Q: Why it says failed during IR Learning process?    
 

1. Please press the remote button only when the instruction prompted.
2. Press the button and hold the remote steadily until it shows “Learning Successful”.

   
  Q: Why IR still does not work after the screen shows “Learning Successful”?    
  1. It could be because the IR was interfered by other rays while receiving signals.
2. The IR could be of the second format, try holding the button for 0.5 second and then release it.
3. IR Emitter does not aim correctly at DIGIZON's receiving window. 		   
  Q: Can I place those two IR Emitters for two different devices (ex. Set-top box and DVD player)?    
  1. Yes
2. Please make sure those two devices do not interfere with each other before doing so.
3. When installing IR Emitters to different devices, please pay attention to the angle of signal transmission. If you use only one transmitting terminal, this may cause inefficient signal receiving. 		   
       
  Q: Why the screen shows “UUID fault” (“DNS fault”)?    
  1. It could be wrong UUID. UUID can only consist “0~9, A~F”.
2. Network is off or disconnected. 		   
  Q: Why picture quality gets worse when I connect from overseas?    
  1. When international submarine circuit are in rush hours whereas it may cause congestions.
2. Please check the average network speed is approximate to the speed of your home in right below corner. For example: 2M /256 will show 200 kbps, 8M /640 will show 520~550. 10M / 2M will show 1600~1800.
3. If you wish to have better video quality, please contact your ISP to upgrade your connection speed. 		   
  Q: What is UUID? Why it helps to use dynamic IP for connection?    
  1. UUID is the abbreviation of “ Universally Unique IDentifier”, each UUID represents a unique DIGIZON box in Internet so that DIGIZON players can find the DIGIZON you wish to connect.
2. DIGIZON will register its UUID to iDNS, therefore, iDNS will relay the connection data to DIGIZON players for connection.
